Job summary

Williams Lumber is seeking a CDL Driver for full-time, on-site assignments in Hopewell Junction, NY. You will deliver lumber and building materials, assist with loading, and ensure loads match invoices while maintaining safety and proper documentation.

You must follow all DOT regulations, perform daily truck maintenance, and coordinate with the Yard Foreman for any issues or unexpected situations. This role emphasizes teamwork and efficient, safe deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Assists in loading and tie down of materials to be delivered.
• Checks loads against invoice to ensure product, sizes and quantities are correct before leaving yard.
• Unloads product at customer site manually or with fork truck or helper.
• Verifies product to customer invoice and collects CODs as needed.
• Follows all State and Federal Safety Laws of safe driving.
• Completes forms, reports and truck logs as required by law or Company regulations.
• Reads DOT testing and training regulations and complies with them.
• Responsible for vehicle maintenance: oil, tires, lights, ropes, flares, etc.
• Reports mechanical or repair problems to Yard Foreman.
• Maintains courteous attitude at yard and during deliveries; exercises caution while driving.
• Completes deliveries promptly, efficiently and safely.
• Calls Yard Foreman when confronted with unanticipated situations.
• Reports accidents or near misses to Yard Foreman and follows safety procedures.
• Performs inter-yard transfers following proper procedures.
• Reports indications of theft or bribery to foreman.
• Performs yard duties when not driving; maintains good housekeeping.
• Displays teamwork and participates in training assignments.
• Keeps daily vehicle maintenance logs as needed.
• Management reserves right to reassign positions as needed.

Salary Range: $26.00 To $29.00 Hourly

Summary: Drives assigned company vehicles primarily to deliver lumber and building materials to customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

• Assists in the loading and tie down of materials to be delivered.
• Checks loads to be delivered against the invoice to ensure product, sizes and quantities are correct prior to leaving the yard.
• Will unload the product at the customer’s site location manually or with the assistance of a fork truck or helper.
• Unloads and verifies product to customer’s invoice. Gets customer’s signature as possible. Collects COD’s as needed.
• Handles materials as to avoid damage and damage causing situations.
• Follows all State and Federal Safety Laws of safe driving.
• Completes all forms, reports and truck logs as required by law or Company regulations.
• Readily complies with all DOT required testing and training regulations.
• Responsible for safe operation, appearance, and operational readiness or their assigned vehicle, including daily servicing and maintenance such as oil, tires, lights, ropes, flares, etc.
• Reports any mechanical or repair problems to the Yard Foreman.
• Maintains a courteous and helpful attitude at the yard and upon all deliveries to customers and exercises caution and courtesy while driving.
• Completes all deliveries as promptly, efficiently and safely as possible.
• Calls the Yard Foreman when confronted with unanticipated situations.
• Follows proper procedures while immediately reporting any vehicle accidents or near misses to the Yard Foreman.
• Adheres to all safety procedures.
• Follows proper procedures for inter-yard transfers.
• Reports any indications of theft or bribery to foreman.
• Performs yard duties when not assigned driving duties.
• Maintains good housekeeping practices in assigned areas.
• Displays teamwork and effort in performance of all duties.
• Participates in required training assignments.
• Completes any daily vehicle maintenance logs as needed.
