Job summary

Travel Plaza Transportation, LLC is a major Hawaii bus operator serving Oahu. We are seeking full-time CDL B drivers with passenger endorsements to transport guests across Oahu on scheduled and charter routes, following DOT regulations and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school graduate and at least 21 years old.
• Valid Hawaii driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
• Commercial driver's license (CDL) B or C with air brake and passenger endorsements.
• At least 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate with customers over radio/PA in English and/or Japanese.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe transportation for airport transfers, charter excursions and tours; assist with passenger loading/unloading.
• Drive in accordance with State/Federal regulations and traffic laws; monitor signals and other road users to avoid accidents.
• Perform pre/post-trip inspections and complete accident reports; check-in/out with Dispatch.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

In 2019, we introduced a new fleet of vehicles, including electric buses. Dayforce: Pine Street - Safety & Driver - HNL Drivers [Pay Range: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour]

ELIGIBILITY: Newly hired FULL-TIME CDL B Drivers with Passenger endorsement and Air Brakes (does not include rehires, part-time, or on-call employees) PAY OUT: $1,500.00 (for each eligible new employee)

Primary Responsibilities:

Drive commercial vehicles, according to Federal Department of Transportation regulations, transporting JTB Hawaii guests and customers on specific routes throughout the Island of Oahu, in a professional and friendly manner.

Essential Functions

Provide safe transportation for airport transfers, charter excursions, tours. Provide customer service, assist in loading and loading passengers from vehicles. Assist with loading and unloading customer baggage.

Drive vehicle in accordance with State, Federal, and traffic regulations. Observe all traffic signals, signs, other vehicles, and pedestrians on the streets, freeways, and highways, avoiding accidents.

Conduct Pre/Post- Trip inspections in accordance with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) and Travel Plaza Transportation regulations and policies.

Record readings and information as required by procedures. Required to complete Accident Reports and check-in/out with Dispatch.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• High school graduate, and required to be at least 21 years of age .
• Required to possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license with a totally clean driver abstract.
• Required to possess a commercial driver’s license (CDL), B or C, with air brake and passenger endorsements. Must be able to drive any type of commercial vehicle requiring a CDL “B” and/or “C”.
• Possess at least one (1) year experience in customer service or hospitality-related experience, preferred.
• Able to frequently communicate with customers over a 2-way radio, cell phone, public address (PA) system and microphone in English and/or Japanese.
• Able to work independently and work cooperatively with others; able to work with employees, business partners, and customers in a professional and positive manner.
• Able to multi-task when vehicle in motion, while communicating with Dispatch over two-way radio.

Working Conditions:

Working Hours

Shift work variable between 5:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m., 7 days/week. Overtime, weekend and holiday work required.

Environmental Conditions:

Subject to atmospheric conditions including: an air conditioned office, noise, fumes, vehicle exhaust, dust, and adverse weather conditions.

• Possess visual acuity; including constant peripheral awareness or side vision, eye coordination, depth perception, focusing ability and color vision.
