Responsibilities

• Represent the Decatur community in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.

• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicle and equipment.
• Assist passengers with boarding and alighting and communicate pertinent information.
• Adhere to ADA compliance and use two-way radio to communicate with dispatch.
• Demonstrate defensive driving to minimize risk.

Who You Are:

Drivers are responsible for providing friendly, safe and reliable transportation around the Decatur, for our Fixed Route (city buses).

Driver Job Responsibilities:

• Representing the Decatur community in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
• Provide safe transportation and maintain on-time performance.
• Perform pre and post trip inspections to ensure proper operating condition of vehicle and equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service to passengers, including assisting with boarding and de-boarding, communicating pertinent information, and responding appropriately in the event of an emergency.
• Understanding of ADA compliance.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch or central office via two way radio.
• Adjust to variables in normal working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic and construction, passenger incidents, accidents and trip changes.
• Employ all techniques of defensive driving to minimize risk.
• Maintain a safe work area and a focus on safety to reduce the opportunity for injury to self or other employees.

Qualifications

Bus Driver Minimum Requirements:

• Must have a current Illinois state driver’s license with at least three (3) years driving experience in the United States
• Fully qualified applicants must obtain an Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Ability to pass a DOT physical (we will provide)
