Job summary

MV Transportation in Decatur is hiring drivers for fixed route city buses. New starting pay rate is $24.72 per hour. Training is provided, and new team members are paired with mentors to guide them through the process.

The role requires a valid Illinois CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements or the ability to obtain them, plus a commitment to safety and excellent customer service. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and paid training.

Qualifications

• Illinois CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements.
• Three years driving experience in the United States.
• DOT physical required (provided by MV Transportation).
• Ability to provide friendly, safe transportation and maintain on-time performance.
• Strong customer service and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Decatur community in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
• Provide safe transportation and maintain on-time performance.
• Perform pre and post trip inspections to ensure proper operating condition of vehicle and equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service to passengers, including assisting with boarding and de-boarding, communicating pertinent information, and responding appropriately in the event of an emergency.
• Understanding of ADA compliance.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch or central office via two way radio.
• Adjust to variables in normal working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic and construction, passenger incidents, accidents and trip changes.
• Employ all techniques of defensive driving to minimize risk.
• Maintain a safe work area and a focus on safety to reduce the opportunity for injury to self or other employees.

Drivers are responsible for providing friendly, safe and reliable transportation around the Decatur, for our Fixed Route (city buses).

Driver Job Responsibilities:

• Representing the Decatur community in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.

Qualifications

Bus Driver Minimum Requirements:

• Must have a current Illinois state driver’s license with at least three (3) years driving experience in the United States


• Fully qualified applicants must obtain an Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)


• Ability to pass a DOT physical (we will provide)
