Job summary

Fimco-Industries in Dothan, AL is seeking a CDL Driver to operate a tractor-trailer or truck to safely transport equipment between manufacturing facilities and retail locations.

You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintain logs, verify load documents, load/unload with lift equipment, and comply with DOT rules and company safety policies. Nights and long hours on the road may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Ability to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) certification requirements.
  • Proven track record of safe and satisfactory driving.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle status, follow regulations.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions and follow signals.
  • Load outbound freight using lift equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform material handling when not delivering.
  • Follow company policies, safety regulations, and transportation laws.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

CDL Driver Position Summary:

Drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck to safely and efficiently transport and deliver equipment between manufacturing facilities and retail locations.

CDL Driver Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in proper working order.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or any damage to the vehicle promptly.
  • Verify all load-related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service/repair status, and comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, following signals from the loading crew and ensuring proper placement of the vehicle and equipment.
  • Use lift equipment to load outbound freight safely and efficiently.
  • Perform material handling tasks when not actively engaged in deliveries.
  • Follow all company policies, safety regulations, and transportation laws.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
CDL Driver Experience and Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or (GED or High School Equivalency Certificate).
  • 1+ years of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Ability to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) certification requirements.
  • Proven track record of safe and satisfactory driving.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.
CDL Driver Other Essential Skills:
  • Effective time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in forklift operation and material handling equipment.
  • This position requires long hours of driving and time on the road, often under varying weather conditions.
  • Drivers may be exposed to loud noises, dust, and other environmental factors at loading docks and job sites.
  • Physical demands include lifting and securing heavy loads, climbing in and out of the truck, and prolonged sitting while driving.
  • Work schedules may include nights, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs.
  • Must be able to work independently and adhere to all safety regulations and protocols.
