Spherion Staffing, LLC in Charles City, IA seeks a full-time CDL Class B Route Driver to join our waste and recycling team. You will operate modern equipment on local routes and be home daily.

You will collect residential and commercial waste and recycling, follow DOT rules, perform safety inspections, and provide courteous service to residents and accounts.

Responsibilities

• Route Operations: Safely operate Class B trucks on local routes to collect waste and recyclables.
• Vehicle Safety & Inspections: Perform daily DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Disposal & Hauling: Transport materials to transfer stations/landfills and unload safely.
• Route & Fleet Technology: Follow dispatch directions, route maps, and work orders.
• Customer Service: Interact courteously with residents and commercial accounts.
• Compliance & Safety: Comply with DOT regulations, local laws, OSHA standards.

You will play a vital role in keeping our local communities clean and sustainable by operating modern equipment to collect residential/commercial waste and recycling to local processing facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Route Operations: Safely operate Class B commercial trucks (e.g., side-loaders, rear-loaders, or roll-offs) along designated local routes to collect waste and recyclable materials.
• Vehicle Safety & Inspections: Complete thorough daily DOT pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure equipment is safe and fully operational.
• Disposal & Hauling: Transport collected materials to designated local transfer stations, landfills, or recycling centers and unload safely.
• Route & Fleet Technology: Follow assigned dispatch directions, electronic route maps, and work orders efficiently.
• Customer Service: Provide courteous, professional service when interacting with residents, commercial accounts, and team members.
• Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict compliance with DOT regulations, local traffic laws, OSHA standards, and company safety guidelines.

Skills:

• Industry Experience: Prior experience driving commercial waste, recycling, or roll-off route trucks.
• Manual Transmission: Comfort operating manual transmission commercial vehicles is a plus.

Qualifications:

• Medical: Valid DOT Medical Card (or ability to obtain one).
• Location & Travel: Must be able to reliably commute to Charles City, IA.
• Physical Capability: Ability to repeatedly mount and dismount commercial trucks, bend, lift up to 50+ lbs, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Screening: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
• Reliability: Strong work ethic, punctual attendance, and a clean safety record.
