Job summary

St. Louis Composting is seeking a CDL Class A driver based in Belton, MO to transport mulch, compost, and soil mixes to KC area locations and customers. You will travel between terminals and must pass DOT inspections, carry an air brake endorsement, and maintain a clean MVR.

Qualifications

• Possess a current Class A CDL with no restrictions and a current DOT medical card.
• Clean MVR with no DUIs or major violations; up to 3 at-fault incidents in 3 years.
• Must have air brake endorsement.
• Experience driving tandem or dump trucks.
• Must be able to drive a manual transmission.

Responsibilities

• Transport mulch, compost, and soil mixes to Kansas City MO area sites, retail locations, and customer addresses safely.
• Travel between terminal locations in the KC area.
• Receive dispatch instructions and follow them precisely.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report any issues.
• Operate tandem and dump trucks in compliance with state, federal laws and DOT regulations.

Job description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Transport all materials (mulch, compost and soil mixes) to all Kansas City MO area and surrounding-area company site locations, retail locations, and customer addresses in a safe manner
• Travel to and between all terminal locations in and around the Kansas City MO area,
• Receive from dispatcher invoice for materials, directions to job site, and any special instructions and follow them to the detail
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and immediately report any concerns or problems
• Operate tandem and dump truck vehicles according to state and federal laws and observing all safety regulations established by the company and DOT

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Possess a current Class A CDL in good standing with no restrictions, and current DOT medical card
• Clean MVR with no DUIs, no major violations, and no more than a combo of 3 at-fault accidents or violations in the past 3 years
• Must have air brake endorsement
• Must have experience driving either a tandem truck or dump truck
• Must be able to drive a manual, aka "stick shift"
• Must be able to pass an extensive DOT drug screening, which includes urine, hair and breath alcohol testing
• Must be willing to work Saturdays and Sundays
• Must be comfortable driving CDL tractor-trailers of 13 speeds or higher
• Must be in good physical condition; able to lift over 50 pounds, stand and sit for long periods of time, etc.
• Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check
• Must be eligible to work in the United States

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

• CDL Class A, or at least 3 years of CDL Class B driving experience
• Experience operating commercial vehicles with live walking floor trailers and/or floors that move
