Job summary

CJ Logistics is seeking a CDL Class B Driver for local deliveries. This role is based at a local facility with daily home time and 30–40 hours weekly depending on business needs.

You will load/unload with pallet jacks, deliver to local customers, and maintain logs and safety checks. A valid Class B CDL and clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Class B CDL required.
• Minimum 36 months driving in Class B role in last 5 years.
• At least 12 months Class B driving in last 3 years.
• No more than two moving violations in last 3 years.
• No serious violations in last 3 years.
• FMSCA/DOT compliance and drug/alcohol screen.
• Must meet age 21+ per company policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in loading/unloading trucks with pallet jacks or manual lifting.
• Transfer items from pallet onto client carts and maintain a safe workspace.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure quantity and condition match documentation.
• Drive a Class B vehicle to deliver goods to local customers.

Job description

Position Overview

The CDL Class B Driver is a key part of the local delivery process to our customers. This role requires hands‑on support for freight loading, staging, and unloading using equipment such as a manual pallet jack, and a direct transfer of goods at the customer destination. This position will have a minimum of 30 hours as a driver, but could require 40+ hours, based on business needs. A typical schedule is Tuesday through Saturday.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in loading and unloading trucks using pallet jacks and/or manual lifting.
• Transfer the items from the pallet onto carts for the client and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Conduct quality checks and inspections of goods to ensure quantity and condition match documentation.
• Operate a Class B commercial vehicle (e.g., box truck, straight truck) to deliver goods to local customers.
• Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
• Secure loads effectively using straps, bolsters, or locks to prevent damage during transit.
• Maintain accurate electronic logs and delivery documentation (BOLs, invoices, and signatures).

General Responsibilities

• Facility & Vehicle Maintenance
• Maintain a clean and organized dock area, ensuring it is free of debris and hazards to prioritize safety.
• Responsible for the routine cleaning and interior upkeep of the assigned commercial vehicle to ensure professional standards and cargo safety.
• Provide professional customer service to external and internal partners, including at delivery points, acting as the "face of the company."
• Perform other related job duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications

• A valid Class B CDL Drivers License is required.
• A minimum of 36 months experience working in a full‑time Class B driving position in the previous 5 years.
• At least 12 months of full‑time Class B vehicle driving experience within the last 3 years.
• No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
• No serious traffic violations or convictions while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
• No clearinghouse violations in the last 5 years.
• Knowledge of all applicable DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Ability to satisfy FMSCA/DOT requirements including a clean drug and alcohol screen and a passing DOT physical.
• High level of reliability and commitment to the role.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to navigate interactions professionally.
• Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public and respond to official inquiries to drivers.
• Must meet minimum age and insurability requirements (21 years of age or older) in accordance with company insurance policies and/or federal regulations governing commercial vehicle operation.

Physical Requirements

• Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle for extended periods
• Climb in and out of trucks, trailers, and loading docks multiple times per shift
• Lift, pull, push, or carry up to 75 pounds as needed for loading/unloading
• Sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed
• Stand and/or walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours, depending on shift)
• Reach with hands and arms overhead and below waist level
• Occasionally lift heavier items with or without assistance
• Maintain manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination to operate vehicle controls
• Enter and exit the vehicle’s cab multiple times per shift (truck seats are generally 5‑6’ off the ground; requires climbing 2‑3 steps outside the cab and 1 step inside the cab before seating)
• Sit for extended periods while driving (up to 11 hours per day in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations)
• Pass and maintain DOT medical certification, including vision, hearing, and physical fitness standards
• Participate in DOT and Company required alcohol and controlled substance testing program
• Work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in and around commercial vehicles, including long periods spent driving on public roads, highways, and at customer or vendor locations. The employee may be exposed to:

• All types of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
• Varying traffic conditions, road hazards, and driving stressors
• Warehouse and loading dock environments, depending on delivery requirements
• Noise, vibration, and fumes from truck engines and other vehicles
• Dust, odors, and airborne particles
• Occasional work in tight or enclosed spaces, including loading bays or truck cabs

Location/Remote Eligibility

This is a local driving position with daily routes originating from a local facility. Drivers return home each day.

Schedule

Work hours may vary by shift assignment and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on business needs.
