Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking a CDL Class A Driver – Roll Off Driver to join our team in Lynchburg, VA. You will operate diesel straight trucks and roll-off equipment, pick up and deliver steel products, and ensure DOT compliance while maintaining accurate logs and records.

The ideal candidate has a valid Class A CDL (Tanker/HazMat a plus), at least 9 months of experience with large vehicles, and comfort with smartphones and SAP or MS Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL (Tanker and HazMat endorsements a plus).
• Minimum 9 months experience operating large mobile equipment or hauling vehicles.
• Comfort using smartphone and GPS technology.
• Basic computer skills; SAP experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of traffic regulations and load restrictions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Flexibility to work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate diesel straight trucks and tractor/trailers (roll-off, dump, and van trailers).
• Pick up and deliver steel products and materials to suppliers and customers.
• Follow procedures to stay compliant with DOT regulations.
• Read and work from invoices, shipping tickets, and electronic instructions.
• Maintain driver logs, trip reports, and inspection reports.
• Assist with loading/unloading and secure loads properly.
• Maintain professional relationships with customers and vendors.
• Perform routine vehicle cleaning and basic upkeep.
