Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting sales efforts. The role requires operating various truck types, performing pre-trip inspections, handling freight, and complying with DOT regulations.

Pay starts at $36.18/hour with a base range of $31.26–$36.18/hour, plus mileage pay for linehaul duties. Eligible employees receive health insurance, 401(k), and potential bonuses.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• Must have at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years or completed the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations 391.
• LCV qualifications apply in specified states and require minimum standards.
• Ability to perform basic math and counting tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and maneuver in/out of a truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations and/or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges when required.
• Coordinate with dispatch on delays, arrivals, and problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service.
• Seek opportunities to generate additional business and pass leads to sales.
• May perform additional duties such as road driver or dock work as needed.
• Follow all laws, regulations, and company policies.
