Job summary

Kids for the Future in Chesapeake, VA seeks a CDL driver for residential moves. You will operate tractor-trailer/household goods equipment, ensure safety, load and unload, and serve as crew leader and customer ambassador.

Requirements include a Class A CDL, 2+ years of driving experience, clean DOT record, familiarity with Bills of Lading and ELD, and strong safety and service mindset; willing to travel for long moves and pass a road test.

Qualifications

• Must be 23 years of age with 2 years of Class A driving experience.
• Requires CDL Class A and ability to pass a road test.
• Experience with moving, freight, or logistics preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and hours of service requirements.
• Proficient in load securing and use of Bill of Lading documents.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor-trailer combinations to transport household goods and other materials.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and report any issues to Fleet Safety.
• Load and unload trucks, wrap and secure items for transit.
• Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service status per regulations.
• Direct and supervise moving crew, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Communicate with Dispatcher and customers, obtain signatures and payments when required.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and DOT/FMCSA requirements.
