Job summary

God’s Pantry Food Bank, Inc. in Lexington, KY is seeking a Transportation Specialist CDL Class A to join the Operations team. This full-time role drives CDL-Class A vehicles and performs warehouse duties, under the Transportation Manager, with a 7:00 am to 3:30 pm schedule.

Responsibilities include safe driving, loading/unloading, maintaining licenses and DOT medical card, completing pre-trip/post-trip inspections, and coordinating with agencies and donors while ensuring accuracy and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Class A-CDL and HS diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to perform heavy lifting and physical work.
• Clean driving record and DOT readiness.
• Experience operating forklift and pallet jack preferred.
• Good communication and math skills; ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned truck in a safe and legal manner.
• Load and unload to protect product quality.
• Deliver and pickup goods requiring CDL.
• Maintain CDL-A license and DOT Medical card.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; complete DVIR.
• Inform supervisor of vehicle maintenance needs.

Position Title:
Transportation Specialist CDL Class A

Department:

Hours Required per week: 40FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Purpose: The Transportation Specialist CDL Class A/ Warehouse person participates as a member of the operations and warehouse team of God’s Pantry Food Bank. Drives CDL-Class A (or other GPFB) vehicles, in addition to other warehouse duties, tasks, and procedures, as assigned by the Transportation Manager, Warehouse Manager or the Operations Director.To drive CDL Class-A licensed vehicles and complete warehouse tasking and operations as assigned

Essential Duties/Functions:

1. Operate assigned truck in legal, safe and appropriate manner.
2. Properly load and unload truck to insure product quality.
3. Deliver and pickup product requiring CDL truck.
4. Maintain CDL-Class A License and DOT Medical card.
5. Maintain all needed licenses and health exams.
6. Do a proper Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections on the truck and fill out DVIR
7. Inform supervisor of needed vehicle maintenance.
8. Verify cargo weight to ensure load is within weight limits.
9. Drive other GPFB vehicles as needed to deliver or pickup product.
10. Unload and load trucks promptly as they arrive.
11. Exercise safe and responsible actions in all job functions.
12. Interact with agencies, donors and staff in a courteous manner.
13. Pick orders as needed in warehouse.
14. Assist agencies and donors with loading or unloading.
15. Operate various power materials handling equipment in an appropriate manner.
16. Assist other warehousepersons in maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
17. Other duties as assigned.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Given that God’s Pantry Food Bank is both a crisis response and an ongoing service agency, it is necessary that staff be adaptable and creative, able to deal with rapid change and unusual demands of time and effort. It is also imperative that excellent working relationships and a positive atmosphere be maintained with not only the staff, but with donors, volunteers, clients and all others with whom the employee comes in contact while representing GPFB
Physical Requirements:

• Walking and/or standing for long periods of time

Miscellaneous Requirements: Full-time, 40 Hours per Week.
