Responsibilities

• Perform driving assignments as directed by dispatch on time, with no cargo loss or damage.
• Ensure compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations regarding the operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
• Adhere to hours of service regulations.
• Conduct proper pre-trip, on-the-road, and post-trip inspections as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and complete the necessary vehicle inspection reports, ensuring the vehicle and trailer are in safe operating condition.
• Load, secure, and distribute cargo properly before and during trips, protecting against shifting, damage, or theft.
• Promptly communicate any variances in schedule for pickup and delivery to allow the company to notify customers and take corrective actions.
• Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork, including trip reports and bills of lading.
• Maintain courteous, cooperative, and respectful communication at all times, and escalate conflicts to the supervisor as needed.
• Follow safe work practices diligently.
• Be reliable with good attendance.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of tractor/trailer experience.
• Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification.
• CDL Class A Driver's License.

Other Skills and Abilities

• Valid CDL (Class A) License.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to commercial vehicle operations.
• Over 2 years of tractor trailer and/or yard switching experience.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Obtain PIT certification and operate motorized power jacks and hand jacks as needed.
• Ability to crank landing gear/dolly legs up or down.
• Successfully pass the 90-day probationary period.
