Responsibilities

1. Perform driving assignments as directed by dispatch on time with no cargo loss or damage.
2. Ensure compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations to the operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
3. Comply with hours of service regulation.
4. Perform proper pre-trip, on-the-road, and post-trip inspections as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations and complete company vehicle inspection report forms, ensuring vehicle and trailer are in safe operating condition.
5. Ensure proper loading, securing, and weight distribution of cargo before and during trip. Protect cargo against shifting, damage, and theft.
6. Communicate all variances to schedule pickup and delivery appointments promptly so the company can notify the customer and take corrective action as needed.
7. Sign and complete all paperwork including Driver's trip reports, bills of lading, or any other paperwork accurately and submit it promptly.
8. Must be courteous, cooperative, and respectful at all times and contact the immediate supervisor to handle any conflicts that do occur.
9. Adhere to safe work practices.
10. Must be reliable. Good attendance is required.
11. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED.
2. 2 years of tractor/trailer experience.
3. Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification.
4. CDL Class A Driver's license.

Other Skills and Abilities

1. Valid CDL (Class A) License.
2. Familiar with state and federal regulations pertaining to the operation of commercial vehicles.
3. 2+ years of tractor-trailer and/or yard switching experience.
4. Ability to read and write English.
5. Obtain PIT certification and operate motorized power jacks and/or hand jacks as needed.
6. Ability to crank landing gear/dolly legs up or down.
7. Must successfully pass the 90-day probationary period.
