Job summary

Green Mountain Transit (GMT) is seeking Bus Operators to provide safe, reliable fixed-route service in the Burlington area. Operators must hold a CDL-B with a Passenger endorsement, a valid DOT medical certificate, and a clean driving record to ensure passenger safety and on-time performance.

Responsibilities include customer service, fare handling, pre-trip inspections, and clear communication with Dispatch.

Qualifications

• CDL-B with P endorsement required by first day of employment.
• Valid Department of Transportation medical certification.
• Must be able to drive GMT buses safely and efficiently.
• Ability to sit up to 6 hours and lift up to 35 pounds regularly.
• High school diploma or GED preferred; minimum age 21.
• Familiarity with GMT service area beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Operate GMT buses for fixed route service.
• Provide helpful passenger service including questions, directions, transfers, and fare information.
• Check in with Dispatcher at start and end of shift.
• Assist disabled passengers when necessary.
• Obey all traffic laws and monitor fare collection.
• Communicate in English via radio and maintain courteous interaction with the public.
• Complete pre-trip inspections and required reports in a timely manner.
