Job summary

Estuary Transit District (operating as River Valley Transit) seeks full-time Bus Operators to transport passengers safely and reliably across Middlesex County. You will perform daily inspections, fueling, cleaning, and fare handling while maintaining trip records and radio communications.

Requirements include a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement, a clean two-year driving history, the ability to lift 60 lbs, and a commitment to DOT and drug/alcohol screening.

Qualifications

• Valid Connecticut Driver's License with endorsements; Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and F endorsement required for full-time Bus Operators.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of driving experience with a good driving record in the last two years.
• Ability to lift 60 lbs and perform vehicle duties.
• Ability to learn and apply District policies and work independently.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with coworkers and the public and exercise good judgment.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical.
• Subject to drug and alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Operate Estuary Transit District (ETD) buses and ensure safe, orderly transportation.
• Complete daily vehicle inspections, fueling, and interior/exterior cleaning.
• Maintain accurate trip records and assist passengers as required.
• Receive and account for fares; communicate via radio; perform related duties as assigned by Operations Manager.
