Job summary

Wickenburg Unified School District 9 Transportation Department is seeking CDL Bus Drivers to operate school buses for regular routes, activities, and substitutes in the Wickenburg, Surprise/Buckeye, and west valley areas. Training will be provided to obtain Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements, with up to $830 training cost paid for new hires willing to commit for a year.

Starting date is immediate.

Qualifications

• Requires Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements; training provided to meet qualifications.
• Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Background check and IVP Fingerprint Clearance required.
• Must have valid driving record for last 3 years; experience in bus/large vehicle preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates school buses per Arizona and district regulations.
• Drives scheduled routes and maintains timely service.
• Maintains discipline on bus and completes disciplinary reports.
• Performs safety checks and reports mechanical or safety issues.
• Transports only authorized students and personnel to authorized stops; conducts safety drills.

Festival Foothills Elementary School Route in the west valley (Surprise/Buckeye) & Wickenburg area available

Wickenburg Unified School District is looking for individuals who are willing to complete the training necessary to obtain their Class B CDL with passenger and bus endorsements to be part of our permanent driver staff. The district is willing to pay $830 in associated training costs if new hires are willing to work with the district and be available for a full year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Appropriate Commercial Driver's License and State Bus Driver's Certificate preferred;
• Must be able to acquire/maintain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements;
• We can and will provide training for the above requirements/qualifications;
• Must maintain a current CPR and First Aid Card;
• Must be able to pass a background checkand maintaina current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card;
• Acceptable driving record for the last three (3) years;
• Bus or heavy automotive equipment driving experience preferred;
• Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1968.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Operates vehicles in accordance with Arizona Highway Traffic Division and Wickenburg U.S.D. regulations;
• Drives routes as required;
• Performs route schedule in a timely and efficient manner;
• Maintains discipline when students are on bus;
• Completes disciplinary reports on students who violate rules;
• Cleans and services bus daily;
• Posts accurate schedule in bus;
• Performs safety check of flares, first aid quipment, fire extinguishers, lights, brakes, tools and tires as directed by supervisor;
• Notified proper authority of mechanical and safety device failures;
• Picks up and discharges students only at authorized stops;
• Transports only authorized students and authorized personnel;
• Conducts bus safety and evacuation drills;
• Reports all accidents to proper authority and completes related reports;
• Complies with all rules, regulations and policies of the Governing Board.

Position Type: 9 Month Classified Calendar

Salary: $19.58 to $21.63 Hourly
