Job summary

The Arc of Chemung-Schuyler is seeking a CDL Bus Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for our community. Join a team that values safety and service while being a visible representative of our organization.

We welcome experienced CDL drivers and those willing to obtain their CDL endorsement. The role reports to the Transportation Director and may be full-time or part-time depending on need.

Qualifications

• Age 21 years or older at hire date.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid New York State Driver's License.
• Safe driving record with 3+ years of responsible history.
• Must obtain CDL-C with Passenger Endorsement and N2 restriction within 45 days of hire.
• Must meet NYS DMV Article 19-A requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport passengers to and from designated locations.
• Operate vehicles per traffic laws and agency policies.
• Assist passengers to ensure comfort and safety.
• Follow safety procedures and use required safety equipment.
• Maintain mileage, fuel usage, and ridership records.
• Report maintenance concerns to the mechanic and Transportation Manager.
• Report accidents or incidents and complete required forms.
• Adhere to transportation policies and driver’s manual.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Safely transport passengers to and from designated locations.
• Operate assigned vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws and agency policies.
• Assist passengers as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Follow all safety procedures and utilize required safety equipment.
• Complete and maintain accurate records of:
  • Mileage
  • Fuel consumption
  • Passenger ridership totals
• Report maintenance concerns to the mechanic and Transportation Manager.
• Report accidents, incidents, or traffic infractions immediately and complete all required documentation.
• Adhere to all transportation policies, procedures, and driver's manual requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid New York State Driver's License
• Safe driving record with a minimum of 3 years of responsible driving history
• Ability to obtain a Class C Commercial Driver's License (CDL-C) with Passenger Endorsement and a minimum N2 restriction within 45 days of hire
• Ability to meet all NYS Department of Motor Vehicles Article 19-A requirements

• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
