Job summary

The Arc Ontario in Canandaigua, NY is seeking a Part-Time CDL Bus Driver to transport individuals on designated routes with safety and care. You will assist passengers, operate mobility equipment, and maintain vehicle cleanliness while complying with all regulations.

Requirements include 18+, valid NYS CDL Class C with Passenger Endorsement, DOT medical certification, and no recent violations. A $500 sign-on bonus is offered along with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid NYS Commercial Driver's License Class C with unrestricted Passenger Endorsement or willing to acquire within 30 days of hire.
• Maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate and comply with NYS vehicle laws.
• No moving violations for 12 months prior to hire.
• Ability to assist passengers boarding and alighting and operate mobility equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely pickup and deliver passengers on designated routes as assigned.
• Maintain valid NYS CDL Class C with Passenger Endorsement and DOT certificate.
• Use two-way radio to contact base during trips.
• Supervise and assist passengers during loading/unloading and use of mobility devices.
• Keep the bus clean and ensure safety procedures are followed.

The Arc Ontario Story:

Responsibilities

• Responsible for safe and timely pickup and delivery of all persons assigned to designated routes while driving a bus.
• Maintain a valid NYS commercial driver's license (Minimum class C) with an unrestricted passenger endorsement. Maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate and comply with all NYS Vehicle and Traffic laws, NYS DMV 19-A rules and regulations.
• Responds to individual needs of passengers and report any issues to a supervisor. Utilizes two-way radio to contact base when necessary while bus driving.
• Provides supervision and assists passengers on the bus during loading and unloading of vehicle at designated stops. Demonstrates safe and correct use of wheelchair lifts, seat belts, Q-Straints, etc. Demonstrates proper lifting techniques when transferring passengers from a wheel chair to the bus.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• HS diploma/GED preferred and one year of experience or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
• No moving violations for 12 Months prior to hire.
• Valid NYS Commercial Driver's License class C with unrestricted Passenger Endorsement or willing to acquire within thirty days of hire.
• Must be Department of Motor Vehicles 19-A certifiable.
