Job summary

The Arc Ontario in Canandaigua, NY is seeking a part-time Driver to transport individuals safely on designated routes, assist with boarding and mobility equipment, and keep vehicles clean and in good working order.

Responsibilities include timely pickups, adhering to NYS CDL Class C with Passenger Endorsement, DOT medical certification, and reporting issues to a supervisor. Training provided; pay increments noted. Join us in making a difference every day.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• HS diploma/GED preferred and one year of experience or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
• No moving violations for 12 months prior to hire.
• Valid NYS Commercial Driver's License class C with unrestricted Passenger Endorsement or willing to acquire within thirty days of hire.
• Must be Department of Motor Vehicles 19‑A certifiable.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for safe and timely pickup and delivery of all persons assigned to designated routes while driving a bus.
• Maintain a valid NYS commercial driver's license (Minimum class C) with an unrestricted passenger endorsement. Maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate and comply with all NYS Vehicle and Traffic laws, NYS DMV 19A rules and regulations.
• Responds to individual needs of passengers and report any issues to a supervisor. Utilizes two-way radio to contact base when necessary while bus driving.
• Provides supervision and assists passengers on the bus during loading and unloading of vehicle at designated stops. Demonstrates safe and correct use of wheelchair lifts, seat belts, Q-Straints, etc. Demonstrates proper lifting techniques when transferring passengers from a wheel chair to the bus.
