Job summary

WeDriveU in Princeton, NJ seeks a Shuttle Driver/Tour Guide to operate a battery-electric shuttle serving campus and community routes. You will follow safety protocols, manage schedules, and act as a tour guide during trips.

The role requires CDL A or B with airbrake endorsement, DOT pre-employment checks, and strong customer service. You’ll handle route navigation, perform safety checks, and communicate with dispatch. This is a full-time, on-site position with comprehensive benefits.

Job Description

The Shuttle Driver/Tour guide is responsible for following safety protocol, schedules and pre-determined routes. The driver will also act as the tour guide throughout the trip. The vehicle used is open air and tows a trailer through narrow roadways. The shuttle holds 62 passengers, is electric and runs off batteries.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Exceptional attendance and punctuality
• Accurately complete vehicle safety checks and escape any issues
• Compliance with all traffic laws, and federal and state transit regulations
• Interact with customers and our central dispatch team and managers in a professional manner
• Provide excellent customer service and support to all riders, i.e., answer questions about schedules, routes, transfer points, and delays
• Promptly report vehicle maintenance, road and route concerns, accidents, and other traffic disruptions using two-way radios or hands-free devices
• Additional duties and responsibilities may apply
• The drivers are responsible for plugging and and charging the vehicles at end of day

Skills Required and Physical Demands

• Use route navigation apps, and other technology, including knowledge of area to pick up and drop off our customers
• Maintain electronic logs to track routes and incidents
• Ability to safely operate and drive without a break for a minimum period of one hour and forty-five minutes
• Ability to drive in fluctuating weather and terrain
• Flexible scheduled to work outside of regular days and shifts
• Comfortable working a split shift schedule
• Ability to lift 45 pounds or more to assist with loading and unloading ADA passengers

Education and Qualifications

Hard Requirements

• Commercial driver's license (A or B)
• Airbrake endorsement
• Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug test, and background check

Preferred Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• At least 1 year of driving experience
