Job summary

WeDriveU is seeking a Shuttle Driver/Tour Guide in California. You will follow safety protocols, operate the open-air shuttle with a 62-passenger capacity, and act as a tour guide on pre-determined routes. The vehicle is electric and battery-powered.

Responsibilities include vehicle safety checks, customer service, and coordinating with dispatch. A CDL, airbrake endorsement, and DOT compliance are required; training is provided.

Job Description

The Shuttle Driver/Tour guide is responsible for following safety protocol, schedules and pre-determined routes. The driver will also act as the tour guide throughout the trip. The vehicle used is open air and tows a trailer through narrow roadways. The shuttle holds 62 passengers, is electric and runs off batteries.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Exceptional attendance and punctuality
• Accurately complete vehicle safety checks and **escalate** any issues
• Compliance with all traffic laws, and federal and state transit regulations
• Interact with customers and our central dispatch team and managers in a professional manner
• Provide excellent customer service and support to all riders, i.e., answer questions about schedules, routes, transfer points, and delays
• Promptly report vehicle maintenance, road and route concerns, accidents, and other traffic disruptions using two-way radios or hands-free devices
• Additional duties and responsibilities may apply
• The drivers are responsible for plugging and and charging the vehicles at end of day

Skills Required and Physical Demands

• Use route navigation apps, and other technology, including knowledge of area to pick up and drop off our customers
• Maintain electronic logs to track routes and incidents
• Ability to safely operate and drive without a break for a minimum period of one hour and forty-five minutes
• Ability to drive in fluctuating weather and terrain
• Flexible scheduled to work outside of regular days and shifts
• Comfortable working a split shift schedule
• Ability to lift 45 pounds or more to assist with loading and unloading ADA passengers

Education and Qualifications

Hard Requirements

• Commercial driver’s license (A or B)
• Airbrake endorsement
• Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug test, and background check

Preferred Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• At least 1 year of driving experience
