Job summary

Knife River in Texas is seeking a CDL driver to safely maintain and operate a water truck, transporting and spraying water to keep road surfaces at optimum moisture content.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, record water usage, and ensure compliance with DOT and safety regulations. You will support construction crews as needed and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment. We encourage veterans and value reliability and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must have Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and physical.
• Must read, write, and speak English sufficiently to comply with FMCSA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily equipment walk around and site inspections to ensure safe operation and proper maintenance.
• Accurately complete pre- and post-trip inspections on daily vehicle inspection forms.
• Safely operate water truck and water pumps, applying water volumes as required by road surfaces.
• Record gallons of water drawn from each source and monitor daily usage within limits.
• Monitor vehicle performance, fluid levels, and mechanical condition; troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Assist construction crews and communicate effectively under high-stress conditions; maintain positive relations with coworkers and customers.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DNR, and other safety/environmental regulations; maintain regular attendance.
• Perform other labor tasks when not operating the water truck.
