Job summary

Airgas is hiring a CDL B Route Driver in Richmond, VA to safely transport and deliver compressed gas cylinders, load and unload materials, and maintain meticulous documentation. You’ll operate a Class B Hazmat vehicle and uphold safety protocols while serving customers on scheduled routes.

Ideal candidates have a valid CDL B (Hazmat preferred or obtainable within 60 days), at least 1 year of recent commercial driving experience, and a commitment to safety and professionalism on the job.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Class A or B CDL with Hazmat endorsement or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience in the last 5 years.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification required.
• Ability to lift 25–75 lbs., occasionally 76+ lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying temperatures.
• Must pass background and motor vehicle checks and maintain safety compliance.
• Must maintain a drug-free workplace.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hard goods on designated routes.
• Collect empty cylinders from customers and address inquiries to ensure satisfaction.
• Record all transactions accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures.
• Load and unload materials as part of daily logistics.
• Perform thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and note issues.
• Present a professional image and represent Airgas during deliveries.
