Job summary

Superior Paving Corp. seeks an Equipment Operator to drive and maintain a fleet of paving and support equipment. The role requires operating trucks and machinery, coordinating loading, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across multiple sites.

The ideal candidate has a CDL B with endorsements, at least 5 years in paving, and the ability to work extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and nights. Strong record-keeping and English communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid CDL B with endorsements and a satisfactory driving record.
  • 5 years of experience in the paving industry or with Superior Paving.
  • Must be able to run a machine in manual mode or with electronic controls.
  • Ability to sit in one position up to 12 hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs unassisted regularly.
  • Ability to read, follow and interpret safety documents, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Superior Paving policies and procedures for safe operation.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and nights as required.
  • Ability to complete and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to develop knowledge of inventory, sizes, types, colors, pallets.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Mechanical knowledge preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Transport and drive equipment to and from regionally located job sites in a safe timely manner.
  • Assist, load and supervise loading of truck to ensure proper order and weight distribution, assure safety and minimal risk to cargo, equipment and people.
  • Move levers to operate and control equipment, sprinklers and computerized controls, distributing and controlling materials to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records such as daily log, fuel tickets, delivery documentation and other logs in compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Obtain shipping documents and signatures and return to the appropriate department as required.
  • Inspect, monitor gauges and equipment; perform routine maintenance and report concerns.
  • Open/close fire hydrants to refill tanks; refuel; dump debris at specified locations.
  • Maintain customer relations and report problems with product quality and safety.
  • Survey job site and unload cargo by hand in safe location for paving crews.
  • Apply knowledge of commercial driving, operating in varying speeds and conditions.
  • Report delays, traffic, weather, or emergency conditions and safety hazards.
  • Operate trucks/equipment per laws and safety regulations.
  • Maintain valid CDL B and medical card; attend DOT physicals as needed.
  • Maintain vehicles/equipment cleanliness.
  • Train others on equipment usage.
  • Other duties as assigned.
