Job summary

Ventura County Transportation, operated by RATP Dev USA, seeks part-time CDL‑B drivers. Starting pay is $25.69/hr with a sign‑on bonus, and CDL‑B training is provided at no cost. This union position offers healthcare, retirement plans, and a clear path to full‑time opportunities.

You’ll serve as a front‑line representative delivering excellent customer service, safely operating buses, assisting passengers, and maintaining schedules while upholding safety and company procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass a DOT physical exam.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on seniority.
• Safe and responsible driving habits.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a front‑line representative delivering exceptional customer service.
• Safely operate buses in light to heavy traffic, including highways and local routes.
• Transport passengers courteously according to assigned schedules and designated stops.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local traffic and safety laws.
• Assist passengers, including individuals with disabilities, with boarding, securing mobility devices, and using the wheelchair lift when needed.
• Promote safety awareness and follow all company and union safety procedures.
• Operate onboard equipment including farebox, radio, wheelchair lift, emergency tools, and safety devices.
• Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and complete DVIRs in compliance with FMCSR requirements.
• Communicate detours, incidents, or service issues to dispatch and follow instructions.
• Make appropriate independent decisions using safety, training, and company policies.
• Collect and document fares, count passengers, and complete required paperwork.
• Report all accidents, incidents, or unusual occurrences promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient transit operations.
