Profile
Requirements of the Bus Driver
- At least 21 years old
- High school diploma, GED,or equivalent
- At least one year ofprofessional driving experience
- Drives fixed routes and operates vehicles and equipment (wheelchair lifts/ramps, bus)
- Drives sets routes and operates vehicles and equipment (wheelchair lifts/ramps, bus headsigns, radios, fareboxes, etc.) safely and reliably.
- Operates vehicles for official transit business only and by the system’s safety plan.
- Provides customer courtesy to all passengers, including providing information on bus transit services and fares in an accurate and friendly manner.
- Provides passenger assistance in boarding and alighting, especially for customers who are elderly, mobility impaired, or who have small children with them.
- Collects and reports passenger fares and ridership in an accurate, honest manner.
- Completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections according to the procedure, noting mechanical failures and maintenance needs on a Daily Vehicle Inspection Report.
- Provides accurate survey documentation (i.e.: boarding/alighting, shelters/benches, obstructing tree limbs, maintenance issues, etc.)
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays
