Job summary

Santa Ynez Valley Transit, operated by RATP Dev USA, is seeking a front-line bus operator to deliver safe, courteous service along assigned routes. You will be the first point of contact for passengers and are responsible for operating buses, handling fares, and upholding safety standards.

The role includes assisting passengers, including those with disabilities, and performing daily vehicle inspections while adhering to all regulations and dispatch communications.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass a DOT physical exam.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Commitment to safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service as the front-line representative of the transit system.
• Safely operate transit buses through city, rural, and highway environments.
• Transport passengers courteously along assigned routes and schedules.
• Assist passengers, including individuals with disabilities and mobility devices.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local traffic and safety regulations.
• Operate fareboxes, wheelchair lifts, communication radios, and emergency equipment.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIRs.
• Communicate detours, delays, and incidents to dispatch.
• Collect fares, count passengers, and complete required documentation.
• Report accidents, incidents, or unusual events promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
