Job summary

The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence is seeking trainees for a CDL-B ELDT program. The role involves training to obtain the CDL with endorsements, following DMV/DOT rules and agency policies.

Trainees will learn procedures for safe transit operations and participate in agency trainings and rides with supervision. Responsibilities include attending trainings, supporting safe driving, and learning through the CDL program to meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Possess a clean driver’s license; three-years of work experience preferred.
• Trainees will attain permit and license with endorsements to comply with DMV Article 19-A, Federal Transit Authority, and DOT regulations, as well as agency policies.

Responsibilities

• Train to obtain CDL License with appropriate endorsements to comply with DMV/DOT Law.
• Learn all requirements for compliance to 19-A regulations.
• Practice safe driving techniques adhering to DMV and DOT regulations.
• Attend bus driver meetings, agency trainings, and/or workshops as scheduled.
• Remove trash from vehicle daily and clean the bus.
• Perform a walk-through after passengers disembark to ensure none remain on vehicle.
• Report incidents or concerns per agency policy and procedures.
• Maintain accurate reporting per department policy.
• Complete daily vehicle/grant reports using assigned equipment.
• Adhere to the Bus Drivers' Procedure Handbook.
• Ensure all passengers are seated and wearing seat belts before transport.
