Job summary

QXO in Maryland is seeking a CDL B Boom Operator to transport building materials to customer locations and job sites. This role combines commercial driving with hands-on support in loading, unloading, securing, and verifying materials while ensuring DOT/FMCSA compliance and company safety standards.

Responsibilities include inspecting trucks, loading materials, communicating with dispatch, and maintaining safety on site across various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Valid Class B CDL license in good standing.
• At least 12 months of verifiable commercial driving experience.
• Experience operating heavy equipment; boom experience preferred.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform touch-freight tasks, lifting or carrying products weighing over 75 lbs.
• Pre-inspect the truck, load materials, and verify load accuracy.
• Notify branch management of potential hazards on site.
• Set up job parameters and inspect sites for safe loading/unloading.
• Maintain regular communication with the dispatcher for timely delivery.
• Follow all DOT and company safety procedures and wear PPE.

What you’ll do:

CDL B Boom Operator

The CDL B Boom Operator is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of building materials, construction products, and equipment to customer locations and job sites. This role combines commercial driving responsibilities with hands‑on support in loading, unloading, securing, and verifying materials while ensuring compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations and company safety standards. Depending on the business unit, deliveries may include oversized, specialized, or engineered building components. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, customer-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, physically active environment.

• Perform touch‑freight tasks, which may require lifting, moving, or carrying products weighing over 75 lbs
• Pre‑inspect the truck, load materials, and verify the accuracy of the load
• Notify branch management of any potential hazards on site
