Main Ingredients of the Job

This is a trainee position, involving a structured 90–180-day training program, both classroom and on the road. At the conclusion of this training program, a successful candidate should be qualified to advance to the position of Delivery Driver.

All functions must be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

During the training period, the trainee will work with designated senior drivers selected to participate in the program and will assist in delivery duties to gain insight into the physical requirements of the job, safe work practices, and receive coaching on their driving skills.

As a US FOODS Delivery Driver Trainee, you will be critical to the US FOODS team and one of the important faces of our organization. You will have an impact on our customers by delivering meats, produce, frozen goods, groceries, dry goods, equipment, and supplies to their drop-off sites. Your efforts are the foundation that defines US FOODS' success based on our pillars of cultural beliefs, work ethic, collaborative spirit, and service.

Responsibilities include:

1. Delivering customers’ orders to meet scheduled delivery times and keep productivity.
2. Unloading products with a hand truck and placing items in the customer storage area.
3. Performing manual heavy lifting of items up to 80 pounds repeatedly.
4. Making frequent stops during a work shift.
5. Delivering product in inclement weather conditions.
6. Verifying delivery of items with customers.
7. Collecting money (cash or checks) where needed.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $26.94 and $32.00 per hour.

Qualifications include:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with less than six months of commercial driving experience.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license issued by the state of legal residence with proper endorsements if required.
• No more than two traffic violations in the past two years, no DUI convictions in the past three years, and no license suspensions in the past three years.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
