Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement (no restrictions preferred).
  • DOT Medical Certificate with Non-Excepted Interstate self-certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience hauling liquids preferred.
  • Hazardous Materials endorsement is required.
  • Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and liquid safety procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork; ability to travel as needed.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a tractor-trailer tanker to minimize risk.
  • Transport fuel, water, and other liquids per regulations.
  • Load, unload, and pump liquids with proper equipment.
  • Ensure securement to prevent spills or contamination.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; document details.
  • Maintain records of mileage, fuel, and hours worked.
  • communicate with dispatchers and project managers on delivery schedules.
  • Adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies.
  • Perform basic maintenance on truck/trailer when needed.
  • Assist with loading/unloading at job sites; heavy lifting as needed.
  • Occasional travel; primarily in the Muskogee, OK area with some trips.
  • Record hours using an ELD per Hours of Service requirements.
  • Navigate to locations using maps or GPS; wear PPE properly.

Job description

Introduction

Emery Sapp & Sons is seeking a safety-focused Traveling CDL Tanker Driver to transport liquid asphalt and other construction-related materials to project sites throughout the region. This position requires extensive travel, overnight stays, and the ability to work closely with paving crews to support roadway construction operations. The ideal candidate will have a valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement, a strong commitment to safety, and the flexibility to travel wherever projects are located. This position requires extensive travel throughout the United States, including extended periods away from home while supporting active project operations.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Safely operate a tractor trailer tanker in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities.

  • Transport fuel, water, and other liquid materials in accordance with State and Federal regulations.

  • Load, unload, and handle liquid products using proper pumping equipment and procedures.

  • Ensure proper securement and handling of liquid loads to prevent spills or contamination.

  • Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure they are in a safe and legal condition.

  • Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, product volumes, and hours worked.

  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, project managers, and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules in a direct and friendly manner.

  • Always adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures.

  • Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on the truck and trailer when necessary.

  • Assist with loading and unloading operations at job sites and facilities as needed.

  • Occasional heavy lifting.

  • Work primarily in and around the Muskogee, OK area, with some travel as required.

  • Accurately navigate a tractor trailer using instructions, maps, or GPS, to a wide variety of locations both on road and off.

  • Properly wear and safely use PPE.

  • Properly record hours worked using an ELD in compliance with Hours of Service regulations.

  • Document product pickups and deliveries.

  • Ensure accuracy of product type, quantity, and delivery location.


Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement (no restrictions preferred).

  • Valid DOT Med Cert with Non-Excepted Interstate self-certification.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience hauling liquids (fuel, water, or similar products) preferred.

  • Experience with tanker operations, including pumping systems and liquid load management required.

  • Hazardous Materials endorsement on CDL is required.

  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and best practices for liquid transport.

  • Strong understanding of safety procedures related to fuel and liquid hauling.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • Basic mechanical skills for minor truck and trailer maintenance.

  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to read, understand and navigate using paper and/or digital maps.

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.

  • Other duties as assigned.
