Job summary

Qualdoc is seeking a Class A CDL operator to support railroad rerailing and emergency response in the Richmond, VA area. This hands-on role involves driving, operating heavy equipment, and assisting with rerailing tasks and construction activities.

The position offers 40 hours guaranteed weekly with overtime and a 24/7 on-call requirement. Per diem and hotel pay may apply for qualifying travel, with fieldwork and shop-based duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) required.
• Experience in construction labor or other physically demanding environments.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and follow safety programs.
• Willingness to work extended hours and respond to emergency service calls.
• Available 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT-compliant pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks, trailers, and equipment.
• Drive tractor-trailers to and from work sites and transport equipment and materials.
• Inspect loads and verify permits for overweight/oversized equipment.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and review work plans.
• Load, unload, move, and stage equipment and materials for rerailing and railroad construction.
• Assist with train rerailing operations and related tasks.
• Help assemble, inspect, set up, and operate cranes and other heavy equipment.
• Operate equipment such as cranes, backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and rail-bound gear.
