Job summary

Salt City Trucking seeks a CDL-A Local Intermodal Driver for consistent, home-daily work with Chicago-bound routes and local runs within 100 miles of Fort Wayne. Expect about 1,900 miles weekly, container pickups/deliveries, and a dedicated schedule.

You’ll earn $80,000–$88,000 annually with a $5,000 bonus, plus comprehensive local pay lines for live load/unload, detentions, and delays. Hazmat endorsement is required within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL
• Minimum 3 months of truck driving experience
• Clean driving record
• DOT Medical Card
• Hazmat endorsement required within 60 days of hire; cost reimbursed after endorsement is added
• Riders not permitted

Responsibilities

• Local intermodal freight with daily runs to Chicago
• Additional local work within a 100-mile radius of Fort Wayne
• Primarily container pickup and delivery between customers and rail yards

Earn $80,000–$88,000 average annual gross pay with a local intermodal position offering daily home time, consistent routes, and multiple opportunities for additional pay.

Pay Details

• Average Annual Pay: $80,000–$88,000
• Average Weekly Pay: $1,600–$1,700
• $5,000 Bonus
• $56 live load/unload at customer
• $28 drop/hook at customer
• $15 out-of-route empty move or crosstown drop
• $15/hour rail delay pay after 1 hour
• $15/hour detention pay after 1.5 hours
• $25 per hazmat load

Job Details

• Local intermodal freight with daily runs to Chicago
• Additional local work within a 100-mile radius of Fort Wayne

Shift Details

• Home Daily
• Day shift: approximately 60% drop/hook, 40% live load/unload
• Night shift: approximately 80% drop/hook, 20% live load/unload
• Report daily for dispatch and truck assignment

Job Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL

• Reliable transportation

Equipment

• Automatic trucks only — no manuals
