A leading company in logistics is hiring a CDL A Local Delivery Truck Driver to assist with fleet maintenance. The role involves preventive inspections and repairs under the guidance of experienced technicians to ensure vehicle reliability and safety. Candidates will need a high school diploma and a valid driver's license; CDL is preferred but not mandatory. This position offers a flexible schedule and a competitive hourly rate.
JOB SUMMARY
Assist Fleet Technician II and III in providing safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by learning to perform quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, diagnosing and repairing as required to prevent breakdowns, reduce vehicle downtime, and improve fleet reliability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Learn to perform required inspections and preventive maintenance under the guidance of experienced technicians or fleet managers to ensure safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
Perform FAI/CVI inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other equipment, adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.
Carry out quality preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles, including inspections, scheduled repairs, and road-call repairs, in a safe and efficient manner.
Address driver vehicle inspection report write-ups promptly and accurately.
Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs on engines, transmissions, drive-lines, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC, and lift-gate systems, following manufacturer specifications.
Document all work performed using work orders, including complaints, causes, and corrections.
Develop proficiency in Sysco computer programs relevant to vehicle maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training (preferred), High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience
No experience required; valid driver's license required, CDL preferred
Skills
Basic vehicle systems knowledge, electrical diagnosis, welding skills, and computer literacy
Technicians must own necessary tools; tools provided by Sysco for diagnostics and major repairs
Certifications such as ASE, Brake Inspector, HVAC, or others are preferred but not required
Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand, walk, handle tools, reach, talk, hear, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 100 lbs
Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
