JOB SUMMARY
Assist Fleet Technicians in providing safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by performing preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, diagnosing issues, and preventing breakdowns to reduce vehicle downtime and improve fleet reliability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn to perform inspections and preventive maintenance under supervision to ensure safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Perform FAI/CVI inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, and light-duty vehicles following legal and regulatory standards.
- Conduct quality preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and more.
- Address driver vehicle inspection reports promptly and accurately.
- Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications.
- Document all work performed accurately on work orders.
- Develop proficiency in Sysco computer programs related to vehicle maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
- No experience necessary; valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle systems, electrical diagnosis, welding, and computer skills.
- Technicians must own necessary tools; apprentices will undergo performance reviews and training.
- Certifications such as ASE, Brake Inspector, HVAC, or OEM diagnostic software knowledge are preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly required to stand, walk, handle tools, reach, talk, hear, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Frequently lift/move up to 100 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities needed include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Occasional exposure to wet, hot, cold, humid conditions, moving parts, confined spaces, fumes, airborne particles, and noise.
- Work hours include evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
- May require travel to other locations for training or business needs.
