Job summary

Universal Logistics is hiring for a dynamic driver role in Baltimore, MD. Operate commercial trucks safely, conduct inspections, load/unload cargo, and ensure timely deliveries across the supply chain.

You will maintain DOT-compliant logs, communicate with dispatch, and provide excellent customer service at delivery sites. Requires Class A CDL, 21+, and a clean driving record with 6 months of recent experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• CDL Class A required.
• 6 months of verifiable driving experience in the last year.
• Clean driving record with proven safe-driving history.
• No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years.
• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.
• No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years.
• Strong time management & communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial trucks safely and in compliance with regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Load and unload cargo and secure loads.
• Transport goods to destinations within scheduled timeframes.
• Maintain logs of working hours and rest periods (DOT).
• Communicate with dispatch about delays or route changes.
• Ensure delivery documentation is completed accurately.
• Follow planned routes and adjust for traffic or weather.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate commercial trucks safely and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues.
• Load and unload cargo as needed, ensuring proper securing of loads.
• Transport goods to assigned destinations within scheduled timeframes.
• Maintain electronic or paper logs of working hours, driving hours, and rest periods (DOT compliance).
• Communicate with dispatch regarding delays, incidents, or route changes.
• Ensure accurate completion of delivery documentation (bills of lading, delivery receipts, etc.).
• Follow planned routes while adjusting for traffic or weather conditions.
• Provide excellent customer service at delivery sites.
• Keep equipment clean and report any necessary repairs.

REQUIREMENTS
