Job summary

Luck Grove in Billings, MT is seeking a Full-Time Machine Operator/Laborer (CDL Class A) to support underground utility and telecommunications projects. You will operate mud vacuum systems and various heavy equipment, perform site prep, and move materials to and from job sites.

This role requires a valid Class A CDL, DOT medical card, clean driving record, and ability to pass drug testing. You must work outdoors, travel to sites, and be available for overtime, nights, weekends.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL in good standing.
• Current DOT medical certification, when required.
• Acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to satisfy driving requirements.
• Ability to pass and remain compliant with DOT drug/alcohol testing.
• Knowledge of vehicle inspections, cargo securement, and basic maintenance.
• Ability to safely operate construction equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow written instructions, maps, and orders.
• Clear communication and ability to work in a crew, with flexibility for overtime/outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Operate mud vacuum systems, mini excavators, drills, skid steers, compactors, and other equipment safely.
• Excavate, trench, backfill, expose utilities, install conduit and underground services.
• Perform general labor: site prep, digging, material handling, traffic control, cleanup, restoration.
• Drive and transport vehicles with a CDL to job sites; secure transport.
• Load/unload and secure equipment; verify weights and clearances.
• Conduct pre-trip, en-route, post-trip inspections; report defects.
• Maintain driver logs, mileage, fuel receipts, and delivery documentation.
• Comply with DOT rules and safety procedures.
• Communicate with supervisors and crew; support operations.
