Amentum is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Fort Johnson South, Louisiana to perform repairs and routine maintenance on a range of heavy machinery. The role requires hands-on experience with engines, transmissions, welding, and diagnostics using technical manuals and precision tools.

You will work in a safety-focused environment, follow manuals, and potentially supervise helpers. A candidate must meet credentialing requirements, hold a valid state license, and have 5+ years of field

Qualifications

• US citizenship required for facility credentials.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five or more years’ recent experience in heavy machinery maintenance.
• Knowledge of engine operations and components.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Class A CDL within 90 days if not current.
• Ability to read Technical Manuals and safety rules.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
• Dismantles and reassembles equipment using manuals and tools.
• Examines parts for damage using micrometers and gauges.
• Replaces defective engines and subassemblies and tests equipment.
• Welds broken parts and structural members.
• Follow Technical Manuals for maintenance tasks.
• May supervise workers assisting with assembly/disassembly.
• May suggest improvements to maintenance procedures.
