Job summary

Herman N Logistics is seeking a Local Grocery Transport position to deliver fresh and frozen groceries around the Chester, NY area. The role uses 48-53 ft reefer trailers within a 250-mile radius and includes NYC routes after six months with dedicated training.

The compensation highlights include an annual gross around $100,374, mileage pay, stop pay, daily show pay, detention and holidays, with a five-day weekly schedule and start times between 09:00 and 13:00, plus DOT screening and security

Local Grocery Transport Position

East Brunswick / Chester, New York

• Core Mission: Deliver fresh/frozen groceries in 48-53 ft reefer trailers within 250 miles of Chester, NY (NY Hudson Valley, CT, NJ, PA backhauls). NYC/Long Island routes unlocked after 6 months and specialized NYC cert training (only 20-25% of freight is NYC).


• Compensation Highlights:


• 
  
  • Gross approx. $100,374 yearly (~$1,930 weekly).
  
  
  • Mileage at $0.68-$0.74 CPM, stop pay at $28.50-$30.00 ($62.50 for NYC).
  
  
  • Extras: Daily show pay ($30-$75), detention ($15/hr), holiday pay ($260/day), safety training ($20/hr), truck moves ($50), and training rates ($75-$200/day).
  
  


• Schedule & Roster Overview:


• 
  
  • 5-day workweeks (Thu-Mon or Fri-Tue), start times between 09:00 and 13:00.
  
  
  • Requires 2 mandatory 6th days per month, heavily tied to 6 major holidays.
  
  
  • 15+ stops weekly (2 loads or 1 long haul daily), with daily home time.
  
  


• Candidate Requirements & Standards:


• 
  
  • Valid Class A license, minimum 3 months tractor-trailer experience, and mandatory DOT drug/alcohol screening.
  
  
  • Yard start/stop at East Brunswick (19 Edgeboro Dr); reliable personal transportation required.
  
  
  • Slip-seat daycabs (no take-home). Mostly no-touch, but cross-account support 2-3 days weekly may involve pallet jack unloads (training provided).
