CJ Hughes Construction is seeking a CDL Dump Truck Driver Gas Distribution to join the crew on underground gas pipeline projects. The role involves operating CDL vehicles, hauling materials, and performing labor tasks such as digging and site prep in outdoor construction environments.

The position requires a valid CDL, at least one year of CDL driving and heavy labor experience, a DOT medical card, and the ability to travel. Safety and teamwork are essential on this busy crew.

CDL Dump Truck Driver Gas Distribution

Job Description/Position Summary

The CDL Driver – Gas Distribution will be assigned to a crew and assist in the installation, repair, and replacement of underground natural gas pipelines and related services. This position consists of approximately 40% CDL driving duties and 60% laborer duties.

This is a physically demanding role that requires working in outdoor construction environments while supporting gas distribution pipeline construction, maintenance, and repair. The individual will be responsible for operating CDL-required vehicles while also performing general labor tasks and supporting the crew as needed.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Operate CDL-required vehicles including dump trucks, trailers, and equipment haulers over 26,000 lbs
• Haul equipment, pipe, materials, and debris to and from job sites
• Load, unload, and secure materials using chains, straps, tarps, and other tie-down methods
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required documentation
• Maintain driver logs when required
• Assist crew with labor duties including digging, shoveling, and site preparation
• Perform heavy lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs on a regular basis
• Work in various weather conditions and job site environments
• Follow all safety policies and procedures while maintaining awareness in the “red zone”
• Necessary maintenance on truck (grease truck) if needed.
• Perform duties as assigned by supervisor to support overall crew production and efficiency

Qualifications:

• Valid CDL-A or B Driver’s License (required) (no restriction)
• Minimum 1 year CDL driving experience
• Minimum 1 year heavy labor experience
• Valid DOT Medical Card (or ability to obtain)
• High School Diploma or GED (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of underground utilities and locator markings
• Ability to safely operate CDL vehicles in close proximity to workers and utilities
• Ability to properly secure loads and operate hauling equipment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable, dependable, and strong work ethic
• Ability to follow directions and always maintain safety awareness
• Ability to adapt to changing job sites, schedules, and tasks

Employment Requirements:

• Valid Drivers License and Reliable Transportation
• Must provide documentation to verify identity and employment eligibility in accordance with federal I-9 requirements
• Ability to pass drug test and background check
• Willingness to travel and work in different areas as needed
• Commitment to following all Safety Policies and Procedures
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical labor
• Ability to work overtime and extended hours based on workload
• Must be 18 years of age

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs regularly
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods
• Ability to work in demanding outdoor construction environments

Work Environment:

• Outdoor construction job sites in varying weather conditions
• Exposure to heavy equipment, noise, traffic, and uneven terrain
• Work performed in close proximity to active construction operations and utilities

Schedule/Travel Requirements

• Full-time position with potential for overtime and weekend work
• Travel required depending on job location and project needs
• Flexibility to work extended hours and overnight stays when necessary
