Job summary

GP Transco, a leading Joliet-based trucking company, is seeking an experienced CDL-A Driver Trainer to lead the training and development of our professional drivers. This full-time role involves classroom and hands-on instruction, course development, and ongoing improvements to training materials.

You will work with Safety, Operations, HR, and other teams to identify training needs, coach drivers, and ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A – required.
• Minimum 2 years of classroom training experience with CDL drivers – required.
• Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and transportation safety requirements.
• Experience developing and delivering driver training programs.
• Strong presentation, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, professional, organized, and able to provide constructive feedback.
• Comfortable using technology and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct classroom and hands-on training for new and current CDL drivers.
• Develop and continuously improve training courses, presentations, tests, manuals, videos, and other learning materials.
• Lead portions of new driver orientation and explain policies, procedures, safety expectations, technology, and culture.
• Coach drivers to improve performance, safety, and operational knowledge.
• Partner with Safety, Operations, HR, and others to identify training needs and develop solutions.
• Keep training materials current with DOT/FMCSA requirements and industry best practices.
• Use technology and multimedia to make training engaging.
• Gather feedback and evaluate training effectiveness for improvements.
• Model professionalism, integrity, and respect.

Are you an experienced CDL driver who enjoys teaching, coaching, and helping other drivers succeed?

GP Transco is looking for an experienced CDL-A Driver Trainer to help lead the training and development of our professional drivers. This is a hands‑on role for someone who understands the trucking industry, knows how to connect with drivers, and can make training practical, engaging, and effective.

A valid CDL Class A and at least 2 years of classroom CDL driver training experience are required.

What You’ll Do:

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid CDL Class A – required
• Minimum 2 years of classroom training experience with CDL drivers – required
• Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and transportation safety requirements.
• Experience developing and delivering driver training programs.
• Strong presentation, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to engage different personalities and learning styles.

• Experience with safety audits, investigations, or safety program development is a plus.
