Job summary

McLane is seeking a CDL-A Driver Trainee to begin a hands-on training program that prepares you for a full Driver position. From day one you will receive paid training, coaching from experienced Driver Trainers, and access to competitive benefits.

During the program you will learn to maneuver tractors, inspect equipment, document deliveries, and ensure on-time service to customers. After training, pay ranges from $75,000 to $88,000 annually, with top earners exceeding that amount.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Must meet McLane's MVR and risk rating qualifications.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product.
• Communicate with customers, management, and other teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer, use a dolly, ramp, and PeopleNet devices.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure.
• Operate truck in a safe manner in compliance with regulations and policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects and submit DOT inspection reports.
• Document delivery receipts and temperatures with the Driver Delivery Handheld.
• Support unloading and delivering product to customer premises.
• Provide on-time delivery and handle returns and credits.
