Job summary

Clean Harbors in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Class A Driver (Retail Technician) to provide comprehensive environmental services including collection and disposal of damaged, discarded, or recalled products; recycling of light bulbs, oil, oil filters, engine fluids and other materials; and on-site cleanup activities. This position requires attendance with an in-person Clean Harbors Academy out of State.

as part of your onboarding and training. Attendance is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL A required.
• Hazmat endorsement required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Proficient with laptop, handheld, printer and iPhone.
• Eligible to obtain CDL Class B with hazmat/tanker endorsement within 6 months, paid by company.
• Able to perform physically demanding tasks and pass background, drug test and medical.
• Must meet facial hair standards per OSHA respiratory protection.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority and follow all safe work practices.
• Pick up, pack and transport damaged/recall goods and waste materials.
• Load, pack and segregate materials for transport.
• Drive a box truck and visit retail customer sites.
• Prepare DOT shipping documents and maintain records.
• Interact with customers at each stop and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Operate laptop, handheld, printer and iPhone to complete tasks.
• Perform projects per site regulations and company policies.
• Complete final preparation and approval of projects before shipment.
• Understand customer disposal restrictions and packaging requirements.
• Adhere to local, state and federal rules and safety guidelines.
• Safely operate vehicles per DOT and OSHA requirements.
• Support additional duties as assigned.
