Job summary

GFL Environmental Services is seeking a Recovery Technician to safely load, secure, and transport cargo in compliance with regulations. You will conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections, complete required documentation, and ensure timely, courteous delivery while maintaining safe work areas.

The role requires a Class A license and X Endorsement, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work outdoors in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Must hold Class A license and X Endorsement.
• Demonstrated organizational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments and outdoors.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Safely load, secure, and transport cargo per regulations and safety standards.
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
• Complete documentation including logs, manifests, bills of lading.
• Follow hours of service regulations and safety laws.
• Position and operate equipment for loading/unloading.
• Report defects and delivery issues promptly.
• Communicate effectively with customers and teammates.

What you'll do:

• Safely load, secure, and transport cargo in compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards.

• Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle and load safety.

• Complete and maintain required documentation, including logbooks, manifests, and bills of lading.

• Follow legislation related to transportation, hours of service, dangerous goods, and workplace safety.

• Maneuver vehicles for loading/unloading and ensure proper equipment positioning.

• Report vehicle defects, incidents, and delivery issues promptly.

• Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.

• Deliver products courteously and on time, maintaining clean and safe work areas.

• Provide training and perform additional duties as assigned.

What's required:

• High School diploma minimum.

• Class A license.

• X Endorsement required

• Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.

• Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.

• High level of personal integrity.

• Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.

• Manual dexterity, ability to lift 75+ lbs required.

• Overtime as required.

• Weekend work may be required occasionally
