Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Class A CDL Driver/Operator to support emergency derailment response and rerailing operations in Kansas City, MO. The role involves operating heavy equipment and performing track-related tasks, with about 10% driving and 60+ hour weeks on a 24/7 on-call schedule.

Responsibilities include inspections, load handling, crane and equipment operation, and safety briefings. Candidates must meet CDL-A requirements and be prepared for continuous physical labor and shift work,

Qualifications

• Valid CDL-A with a good driving record.
• Experience in construction labor or a similar physically demanding role.
• Willingness to operate standard construction equipment.
• Ability to perform physical labor as required.
• Must pass required qualification, training, and safety programs.
• Available 24/7 for emergency calls, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment per company and DOT requirements.
• Drive tractor-trailers to and from job sites and transport equipment and materials.
• Inspect loads and verify transportation permits for overweight/oversize equipment.
• Participate in daily safety briefings and work planning.
• Load, unload, move, and stage equipment and materials for rerailing, load transfer, and track work.
• Assist with the assembly, inspection, and operation of cranes and other heavy equipment.
• Rig and connect chains, cables, and winches during derailment operations.
• Operate cranes, backhoes, grapple trucks, dump trucks, excavators, loaders, bulldozers, rail-bound equipment, tractors, and skid-steer loaders.
• Use hydraulic tools, welding and cutting torches, electrical tools, and common hand tools.
• Perform minor equipment and vehicle maintenance and report complex issues.
• Assist with disassembly and loading of cranes and other equipment.
• Restock vehicles and equipment with parts and supplies.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas, vehicles, and equipment.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other physical/operational tasks as needed.
