Job summary

Schneider National is seeking a Driver Instructor to coach, mentor and onboard new CDL drivers. The role includes classroom and in-truck training, safety and hours of service instruction, and teaching trip planning and policy adherence.

You will advocate safety and driver retention while showing drivers how to use Schneider’s tablet and workflow systems. Applicants should have prior training experience, strong coaching skills, and the ability to learn Schneider’s policies.

Qualifications

• Previous instructor or training experience preferred.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
• Demonstrates a positive, professional attitude.
• Able to learn, demonstrate and train Schneider’s company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Coach, mentor and onboard new drivers.
• Perform hands-on training in the classroom and in the truck.
• Train drivers on safety, hours of service, trip-planning, workflow, tablet, policies and procedures.
• Act as a safety advocate and driver retention ambassador for the organization.
• Teach driving skills that align with Schneider’s guidelines and materials.
• Show drivers how to use Schneider’s electronic tablets and workflow system.
• Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.
• Evaluate and provide updates on candidates who are not meeting expectations.
• Prepare drivers for a safe and rewarding career at Schneider.
