Job summary

McLane is seeking a CDL-A Delivery Driver in Illinois to join our driving team. You will inspect tractors, operate a tractor-trailer, document deliveries per DOT rules, and deliver to customers, ensuring accuracy and safety. This role emphasizes reliability and safety on the road.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Valid CDL-A license required.
• At least 1 year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor-trailer driving experience.
• Must meet MVR and risk rating requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient for safety and operations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect tractor-trailer for defects and complete DOT inspection reports.
• Verify bill of lading and keys for accuracy during off-hour deliveries.
• Drive tractor-trailer to destinations while following DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
• Maintain driver logs (Manual or Peoplenet) per DOT rules.
• Unload products and deliver to customer premises.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do As a CDL-A Delivery Driver

• Inspect tractor-trailer for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report indicating condition.
• Inspect bill of lading and store keys for accuracy in off-hour delivery.
• Drive tractor-trailer to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle on the road and on customer premises.
• Maintain driver log (Manual or Peoplenet) according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt, product temperatures and exceptions.
• Unload trailer, delivering product into customer premises.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications You’ll Bring As a CDL-A Teammate

• At least 21 years of age
• Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL-A)
• At least 1 year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor-trailer driving experience
• Must meet McLane’s MVR and risk rating qualifications
• This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
