Job summary

McLane in Birmingham, AL is hiring CDL-A Delivery Drivers. We offer industry-leading pay, strong client relationships, and dependable home time for a long-term career in distribution.

As a CDL-A Teammate, you will inspect tractors, review bills of lading, drive safely to customer sites, maintain logs per DOT rules, unload deliveries, and support a nationwide network serving restaurants, retailers, and e-commerce clients.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL-A).
• Ability to read and understand bills of lading and DOT inspection reports.
• Must meet MVR and risk rating qualifications and have clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspect tractor-trailer for defects before and after trips and submit DOT reports.
• Inspect bill of lading and store keys for accuracy for off-hour deliveries.
• Drive tractor-trailer to destination following regulations and safety protocols.
• Maintain driver logs per DOT requirements and document deliveries.
• Unload deliveries and place product at customer premises.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

What you'll do as a CDL-A Delivery Driver:

• Inspect tractor-trailer for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report indicating condition.


• Inspect bill of lading and store keys for accuracy in off-hour delivery.


• Drive tractor-trailer to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle on the road and on customer premises.


• Maintain driver log (Manual or Peoplenet) according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt, product temperatures and exceptions.


• Unload trailer, delivering product into customer premises.


• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications you'll bring as a CDL-A Teammate:

• At least 21 years of age


• Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL-A)


• At least 1 year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor-trailer driving experience


• Must meet McLane's MVR and risk rating qualifications


• This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
