Job summary

Airgas, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN is hiring a CDL Class A or B Route Driver to safely transport and unload compressed and liquid gas cylinders. You will manage loading/unloading, documentation, and customer relations while adhering to hazardous materials safety protocols.

The role requires Hazmat endorsement or the ability to obtain it within 60 days, background checks, and a commitment to safety and professional conduct on daily routes with home daily schedules.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have at least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
• Class A or B CDL
• Must have HAZMAT endorsement or be able to obtain the endorsement within 60 days of being hired.
• Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 - 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace.
• Adherence to safety regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class A or B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders, as well as hard goods, along designated routes.
• Collect empty cylinders from customers and address inquiries to ensure complete satisfaction.
• Record all transactions accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures.
• Handle the loading and unloading of all materials.
• Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, noting any issues to ensure full safety compliance and maintaining the vehicle's condition.
• Maintain a professional appearance and serve as a representative of the company during all deliveries.
